My friend Sarah has an awesome site, High Country Mom Squad. I have my first "Crafting with Niki" article posted :) It was fun! I'm excited to do this for Sarah and the mommies of the High Country!
This is my first REAL attempt at making curtains. I love how they turned out! I am in love with the fabric! Now, to convince DH to paint our bathroom to match :)
I got in a little sewing groove this week and made two purses for one of my fellow HCMommies, as well as a new backpack for Liliana. I love the backpack, it turned out really well!
Long time, no updates. Where's my sewing been? Well, it has something to do with a very mobile, walking 9 month old. Cutting two new teeth didn't help, nor did the time change.
But here are a few things that I have made recently.
Party Favor Bags for Madison's birthday party. Her theme was "Cheetah Girls". I think they turned out super cute!
My first pair of appliqued soft sole leather shoes. Super cute design, not such a good sewing job. Sewing with leather is very tricky. Hopefully the next pair turns out better!
A purse, for ME :) I rarely actually sew for myself. I love this design. I'm looking forward to making another one soon!
I finally got around to making my sister-in-law her knot purse. It's only taken me about 2 months to finally get it done. I love how it turned out. I also made a matching key fob! Hope you like it Susan!
My friend, Sarah, has an awesome local site called The High Country Mom Squad. She does fun reviews, highlights local businesses, tells us moms what we can do on the weekends, and my favorite, does Freebee Friday. This week she wrote about Niki's Knacks. I'm so excited about her helping me get my "name" out there! THANKS SARAH!
I am getting ready for my first "big" festival. I will be having a booth at a local all day musical festival held here in the High Country. I am excited about it and nervous that I will not finish everything I want to! My fingers are crossed that my kids continue to "allow" me some sewing time every day. Tonight so I could see that yes I HAVE gotten something accomplished I took some pictures.
I finally listed some of my items in my etsy store. I have been neglecting the poor store and it needed some things relisted and more items posted! So, check it out and pass it on to your friends! www.nikisknacks.etsy.com
Yesterday I got a phone call asking me if there was any way that I could get a few products ready and in the mail by today. My name was given to a mom's site based out of Burlington, NC. The site is Mommy Who? The Mommy Who? ladies are going to be doing a few segments on their Fox 8 television show and wanted to add a chalkboard placemat into their "travel bag" segment! HOW EXCITING for me! I had a chalkboard mat, boo boo bag, and paci clip already made, so I whipped up a new crayon roll and off to the post office I went!
Now, to get to work on some major sewing by Monday when the segments air so hopefully I'll get some business :)
A while back I saw the coolest thing - a crayon roll-up. I knew that I needed to make one for my daughter, Liliana. I was at wal-mart checking out the fabric and found some Thomas the Train fabric which I just HAD to get since Liliana is in love with Thomas right now. When I was thinking about what I could make for her, I remembered the crayon roll that I saw and decided to figure out how to make one. I think it turned out great and Liliana LOVES it! I will be making some for my etsy store shortly!
This is my purse that I recently made. I used Joel Dewberry fabric from the Aviary collection. The main fabric is light yellow sparrows, the interior stripe is broad stripe in light yellow and the accent fabrics are sunburst in orange and almond. Joel Dewberry is one of my favorite fabric designers. The pattern is the She Loves Me, She Loves me KNOT handbag from You Can Make This.com. I love the pattern and I look forward to making a few of these for friends and family.
I'm Niki. I am a mom and wife first and foremost. I love sewing and creating new things. I love reading and cross stitch. My kids are my world. I love spending time with my family.
